EHS Hall of Fame 2026

On Saturday, October 3, Ellsworth High School officially inducted eight distinguished student-athletes and coaches into the EHS Athletics Hall of Fame Class of 2026. this year's class features state champions, record-setting performers, and legendary program builders whose contributions certainly left their marks on Eagle Nation!

Meet the Class of 2026

Peter Austin - EHS HOF

Peter Austin – Soccer, Basketball, Baseball & Coach

A 1983 graduate of Ellsworth High School, Peter Austin distinguished himself as a multi-sport athlete before building one of the most successful boys basketball coaching legacies in school history.

Athlete Legacy: Austin was named to the 1982 Maine Boys Soccer All-State Team as a goalkeeper, earned recruitment interest from the University of Maine in baseball, and played four years of varsity basketball as a forward.

Coaching Legacy: Over 17 seasons as EHS varsity boys head basketball coach, Austin compiled a 191-78 regular-season record, made six regional championship appearances, and reached two Class B state championship games.

Championship Era: He guided Ellsworth to Class B North/East regional titles in 2016 and 2022 and back-to-back 18-0 regular seasons in 2022 and 2023. He earned Big East Coach of the Year honors in 2016 and MABC Class B Coach of the Year in 2023.

Jackson Curtis - EHS HOF

Jackson Curtis – Basketball & Baseball

Jackson Curtis established an exceptional two-sport career at EHS on the basketball court and baseball diamond.

Basketball: Curtis surpassed 1,000 career points and posted senior season averages of 20.0 points, 9.0 rebounds, and 2.5 assists per game. He was named a 2020 BDN All-Maine Third Team selection, Big East First Team selection, and Mr. Maine Basketball semifinalist while leading the Eagles to a 17-4 record and the Class B North final.

Baseball: Curtis was a two-time PVC Class B First Team selection (2018, 2019) and a key member of Ellsworth’s 2019 Class B State Championship team, helping bring the program its first baseball state title since 1988.

Ursula Gammelin - EHS HOF

Ursula Gammelin – Tennis

Ursula Gammelin served as a cornerstone during one of the most dominant stretches in Ellsworth High School tennis history.

EHS Excellence: During her four-year high school career, the Eagles captured four consecutive Eastern Maine championships. Gammelin competed as the team's No. 1 singles player during her junior and senior seasons and earned Penobscot Valley Conference First Team honors.

Team Dominance: Gammelin contributed to 56 consecutive team victories and three straight undefeated seasons against Eastern Maine competition.

Collegiate Success: At Colby-Sawyer College, she earned 2000 All-Commonwealth Coast Conference Second Team honors in both singles and doubles.

Tim Henderson - EHS HOF

Tim Henderson – Wrestling Coach

Tim Henderson built the Ellsworth High School wrestling program from the ground up, establishing it in 1971 and developing it into a statewide powerhouse.

Program Builder: Henderson founded EHS wrestling and laid the foundation for decades of competitive success.

State Championships: Just ten years after founding the program, Henderson guided the Eagles to back-to-back Maine Class B State Championships in 1981 and 1982.

Lasting Legacy: His teams produced multiple individual state champions, and his 1981 and 1982 state title squads stood as EHS wrestling's most recent state champions until 2015.

Dick Jude - EHS HOF

Dick Jude – Basketball & Baseball

A member of the EHS Class of 1964, Dick Jude established himself as one of Maine's premier high school basketball players.

EHS Basketball: In 1964, Jude earned Bangor Daily News First Team All-Maine honors and was named to the Eastern Maine Class L All-Tournament Team.

Colby College: Jude continued his athletic career at Colby College as a two-sport standout in basketball and baseball.

NCAA Postseason: Jude served as the starting center fielder for Colby during the 1966 NCAA District I baseball playoffs, competing against Northeastern at Fenway Park on June 8, 1966.

Aleta Looker - EHS HOF

Aleta Looker – Cross Country & Track & Field

Aleta Looker compiled one of the most accomplished distance running careers in Ellsworth High School and Maine schoolgirl history.

Cross Country: Looker won the 2012 PVC Championship in a course-record time of 19:06.34 and claimed the 2013 Eastern Maine Class B individual title.

Track & Field: A six-time Class B individual state champion across indoor and outdoor track, Looker won three indoor 800m titles, two outdoor 800m titles, and the 2014 indoor mile. Her time of 2:11.58 in the 800m at the 2014 New Balance Indoor Nationals set a Maine state best.

Georgetown University: Earning an athletic scholarship to Georgetown University, Looker became a 2016 BIG EAST champion in both indoor and outdoor 4x800 relays and achieved a personal best of 2:10.44 in the 800m.

Mike McDevitt - EHS HOF

Mike McDevitt – Basketball

Mike McDevitt transformed a standout high school career at Ellsworth into an extraordinary collegiate playing and coaching legacy.

Saint Joseph's College: McDevitt was a four-year starter (103 games), finishing with 1,381 points and 674 rebounds. In 1982-83, he averaged 17.0 points per game, was named WMAC Player of the Year, and led the Monks to the program's first conference title.

Coaching & Hall of Fame Legacy: As a collegiate head coach, McDevitt compiled a 667-231 record with 20 conference titles and 15 national tournament appearances. His accomplishments earned him induction into the Saint Joseph's Athletics Hall of Fame (2011), the Maine Basketball Hall of Fame (2023), and the Maine Sports Hall of Fame Class of 2026.

Trinity Montigny - EHS HOF

Trinity Montigny – Basketball

Trinity Montigny developed into one of the Big East Conference's premier players and concluded her Ellsworth career as a 1,000-point scorer in 2020.

EHS Career: Montigny earned 2018 Big East First Team All-Conference honors, received the 2018 Big East Paul Soucy Spirit Award, and was selected as a 2020 Maine McDonald's Senior All-Star.

Signature Moments: Her senior season featured a career-high 42-point game against Foxcroft Academy and recognition from the Maine Legislature for reaching 1,000 career points.

Husson University: Montigny continued her career at Husson University through the 2024-25 season, earning North Atlantic Conference All-Sportsmanship Team honors in both 2023 and 2025.
