On April 2nd, Grayson Richmond from Birdsacre came to talk with the third grade students about owls in Maine, followed by an artist's workshop with local artist Rebekah Raye. In the workshop, students were able to draw directly from Birdsacre's owl mounts while being guided by Rebekah. She also brought her beloved, "crankie," which is an old storytelling art form - a long illustrated scroll that is wound on two spools to create a moving picture! This workshop has become an annual tradition and students will, once again, create ceramic owls to sell as a fundraiser for Birdsacre this spring. More information to come!
